I am thrilled to be here at Grace, serving as a vicar for the next year. The title of “vicar” is unusual, but it comes from the Latin word vicarius, which translates to “substitute.” Another way to consider my office is to think of me as a deputy pastor. I’m going to act like a pastor and do pastor-like things (preach, lead Bible study, conduct shut-in calls, etc.), but I do not have that title yet. In fact, when I have introduced myself to others outside our congregation in Vero Beach, I have described myself as a “pastoral intern.” As far as my education goes, I graduated with two degrees from Old Dominion University in 2016, one in Applied Mathematics and the other in History Education. In the immediate past, I worked as a software developer for nine years, including while I attended seminary. I’m excited and blessed to serve here at Grace and to work alongside Pastor Luttman in my final year of preparation for the pastoral ministry!
